Atlanta Classic 9/26/15

Coach Moore's Report

Thomas Moore claims individual win as Titan Boys Finish a Close Second in Atlanta Classic; Girls Take 6th

Thomas Moore was one of three Titans to take an individual victory on Saturday at Clinton Nature Preserve in the Atlanta Classic, but the boys team fell two points short of a win to AAAA-rival Whitewater in the 18-team championship division that featured top teams from three states. The girls' varsity ran an outstanding race in a highly competive field, taking 6th place among 14 teams.

Allie Dominicali (21:39) was first to the tape in the girls' JV race, and Jacob Ash (18:18) led the boys JV race, giving the Titans three individual winners in their four races.

The individual win in the boys race gave Moore win number two for the season; he set a course record in winning the season-opening NEGA Invitational. The Titans just missed having three runners in the top ten (145-runner field) as Anthony Potts took 5th in 16:35 and Harper Sigler was 11th in 16:52. The Frosh tandem of Brady Kalessa and Dawson Frey were 23rd and 25th (in 17:24 and 17:28), respectively. Andrew Cowick was one spot back (26th in 17:31), and Austin Joost took 52nd in 18:15.

In the girls' race, Mackenzie Morse shattered the 20-minute barrier with a 13th place finish in 19:50. A sophomore trio of Sophie Brown (28th in 20:57), Gabby Huff-Streiter (30th in 21:05), and Kate Mattison (36th in 21:12) had awesome races. Hollis Brown rounded out the top five (37th in 21:17). Melanie Bowden (44th in 21:36) and Courtney Jones (50th in 21:50) also contributed varsity scores.

The boys' JV supported Ash's winning effort with 3rd (Joel Winston), 9th (Daniel Smith),10th (Zac Cason), 11th (Jon Hobus), 13th (Jonovan Dawson), and 16th (Ryan Roddy).

Dominicali got great support in the girls' JV race from Anna Cobb (2nd), Anna Marie Garmon (3rd), Komal Parikh (5th), Amy Gayer (6th), Rachel Sigler (9th), and Christina Vogt (10th).
