NOHS Cross Country runs at Mountain Invitational - Unicoi State Park

Moore adds another win as Titan Boys Take Title; Lady Titans a close 2nd

Thomas Moore blazed a slippery Unicoi State Park course in 15:38, outdistancing a trio of 16-minute-barrier-breaking competitors on Thursday afternoon. The win gave Moore his third individual win of the season, coming just five days after taking first in the Atlanta Classic. The Titans took the top spot among 28 teams, leading 2nd place 8-AAAA foe North Hall 63-74. In the girls race, Mackenzie Morse led the way, recovering from a fall to take 8th place overall in 20:21. White County edged the Lady Titans by five points (76-81) in the 18-team field. 

Anthony Potts and Harper Sigler captured 9th and 10th spots (16:22 and 16:29). Dawson Frye and Andrew Cowick turned in low 17's (17:06 and 17:22) with 19th and 24th places, respectively. Brady Kalessa (32nd in 17:32) and Austin Joost (33rd in 17:35) rounded out the top seven. 

Gabby Huff-Streiter ran a top-ten race (10th in 20:31) as Sophie Brown (19th in 21:02), Hollis Brown (25th in 21:08) and Kate Mattison (26th in 21:14) contributed to a team average of 20:53. Alllie Dominicali (33rd in 21:39) and Melanie Bowden (38th in 21:55) contributed varsity scores. 

In the boys' JV race, Jacob Ash made it back-to-back wins with a first-place finish of 17:57. Wanya Newton took 8th in 18:53, with Jon Hobus 20th in 19:20. Daniel Smith (31st in 19:42) and Joel Winston (45th in 20:00) were top-five. Acton Vogt and Ryan Roddy completed top seven scores. 

The JV girls dominated the field with near-perfect score of 22 points, placing five runners in the top 9. Courtney Jones led the way with a first-place finish in 21:37. Anna Cobb took the runner-up spot, clocking 21:58. Anna Marie Garmon was 4th in 22:38. Peyton Coates returned to action with 8th in 23:24. Amy Gayer was 9th in 23:26. Komal Parikh was 14th in 23:45, and Rachel Sigler returned to competition with 16th in 23:53.
